Public support in Wales for generation from renewable sources

The Welsh Government has set a target for Wales to meet 100% of its electricity needs from renewables by 2035.

Wind power is the critical backbone behind the energy transition, but to achieve our goals we need a variety of different energy sources. A mix of onshore and offshore wind, alongside solar and tidal provides supply security and affordability. Diversity also offers more return, such as widespread job prospects, community benefits and habitat restoration programmes.

We champion the pivotal role renewable energy plays in growing Wales’ wider economy and decarbonising our heavy industry. Across land and sea, we have the potential to deliver 100% of our electricity needs if supported by a clear delivery plan.

Our work in Wales

Getting renewable energy projects up and running is the only way to speed up the shift away from fossil fuels, bring thousands of well-paid jobs to our region and millions of pounds in investment for nature recovery and community benefit schemes.

We advocate for the economic, social and environmental opportunities from onshore and offshore wind. We target the strategic barriers stalling faster project delivery, such as grid constraints and planning and consenting issues. Through collaboration with industry, wider stakeholders and government we establish trust and partnership working. Our aim is to accelerate the transition to renewable energy in Wales.
